Tatyaji Maharaj Dharmatma

Dharmatma Purushottamraoji alias Tatyaji Maharaj was born in the royal family of Rajimwales, who were the Chieftains of a wide territory around Raipur, Rajeem and other villages of the present Madhya Pradesh state in India. Tatyaji Maharaj was widely recognized as a great Saint-Administrator (Yogi) who spent all his life in dedicated service to the poor and  suffering.
The most remarkable aspect of his life is that he knew intuitively, the ancient science of medicine : Ayurveda and astrology. He effected several what were know as 'miracle cures' in his life. Inspite of being the administrator of a large territory, he exerted his skills to help the suffering and diseased. All his help was, of course, offered free and he expected absolutely nothing from the people who needed treatment.  Tatyaji Maharaj was the grandfather of Paramsadguru Shree Gajanan Maharaj of Akkalkot (Solapur district of Maharashtra State) who is recognized throughout the world as an exponent of the New Era of super-science i.e. Homa Therapy, universal brotherhood, love & peace.

Tatyaji Maharaj used to say "A Vaidya (Ayurvedic Healer) should be thoroughly pious and pure he should possess spotless character and determination. he should be devoted and compassionate, if such a pious healer treats a patient simply by administering him a mere piece of clay, even that will work as a lifesaving elixir" and a similar incidence actually happened in his life. Once when he had given a particular herbal medicine prepared by himself for a patient, it so happened that the patients relative who had come asking for the medicine, while on his way back to the house slipped and fell down in the dark. The contents of the bottle in which he was carrying the medicine spilled and in the dark of the night he inadvertently picked up a piece of clay. This he administered to the patient who recovered. When the obliged relatives of the patients very came back to thankfully return the remaining medicine, Tatyaji Maharaj saw that the medicine being returned was just a piece of clay. When he came to know about the whole incidence he said " if a piece of clay can do the work of my medicine, then its not my skill, it's the Lords will" He then stopped giving medicines but even then people had so much faith in him that they used to bring medicines given by other doctors to him and ask him to touch the medicine and then take it.

In the holy memory Dharmatma Tatyaji Maharaj a non profit organization 'Dharmatma Tatyaji Maharaj Memorial Medical Relief Trust' has been founded with the primary objective of carrying out research in the field of  AYURVEDIC medicine and rendering medical relief to the needy and poor in the rural areas.
